From .com to .org - any suggestions on moving my blog?

Dear fellows of this allmighty board,

I am going to move my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org in order to monetize it. I am hoping to get some suggestions on what is the best way to proceed for the SEO and remaining the link juice.

Is the best way to export/import all the blog posts and comments and then redirect it? How about the double content issue? Should I delete the posts in the old blog, or maybe delete the whole blog?

Or maybe I should just keep the old blog and start a new one? But then I don't get the link juice from the old blog, right? What would you do?

I actually started my blog on film and media to test my SEO knowledge and because my job is f*cking boring. It's in Swedish, but you can check it out in my signature if you want. Anyway I did pretty well. After eleven months it's the most successful Swedish "pure" blog on movies. The blog lists has it as number 2 to 5 (mostly TV- and Twilight blogs before mine. LOL!). So, on one year, I managed to compete with, and do better than, older established blogs with several writers. I am not writing to brag about it, but more to hopefully inspire some people using simple SEO. And also to thank this generous board which has been very rewarding to follow.

So anyway, I hope to bring in some cash now. But I know I will never bring in anyway near the amounts I could do if I wrote it in english.
...Maybe next year... (so please, don't steal my content ;) ...)

I apologize if this topic has been addressed earlier. I did a search for earlier threads.

Export and import is the best way.
This probably won't work if you have hundreds of posts, but the best way to phase out the old blog would be to edit each post with "This post has been moved to: http://newblog.com/xxxx"

I haven't done it in a while, but here is the way I wish that I had done it.

    1. Build the new blog and start posting.
    2. Place a sticky post at the top of the old blog to redirect readers to the new blog
    3. Stop posting on the new blog, just leave the redirect up.
    4. Continue posting new content to the new blog, promote, do SEO and just business as usual.
    5. When it looks as if your readers have come over, import the rest of the posts over and just leave the sticky up on the old blog with the link to the new one.

Thanks Subdivision and hmnsfield. Very much appreciated. :)

I know that you can do a 301 redirect for a whole .com blog. But if I export single posts, how do I keep the link juice from the single posts when I take them to the new blog? Should content be enough to keep the SERP rankings of the individual pages?
