    Hi

My client making two sites of similar design, almost same content, owned by one owner. Give me few good reason to decline this concept. How will it effect in terms of SEO?

    Thank's in advance.

duplicate content is never good for SEO. None of the sites will be ranked well in google.

Google doesn't like when one owner make several sites for his business. He can punish.

Is it similar or actually duplicate? similar is okay as long as they are both sites in their own right. Duplicate is where you just smell them ripping off each other and go Where have I heard that before? =this is bad for SEO.

Ask him what his reasoning is. It seems like extra work to build up two sites when you could just focus all of your effort into one.

The only time this tactic works is if you are using the domain name to target very small & specific niches with no competition.

duplicate content, the oldest site will probably rank better then the other, but the 2 sites are keeping each other down.

conclusion, make the 2nd site differnt but in the same niche

    show your client this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Hk5uVv8JpM

So Matt Cutts can tell him why he should focus only on one project and why he should not use duplicate content :)

Duplicate content will either hurt both, or google will chose the "main" website. Either way, you lose hours of work.

Ok, so what if the content is legitimately "duplicate"?

Say I have a site about uhh.. craftsman screwdrivers (just an example) that's doing very well.. craftsmanscrewdrivers.com..
Because of that success, I make another site about a different brand of screwdrivers, stanley: stanleyscrewdrivers.com

I use the exact same content, but change the brand names as needed. It's dupilicate, but it's legitimate. Do I still get the same negative impact? To what extent do I need to re-word the 2nd site so that it misses the duplicate content filters?

May be instead of putting the same content, you can tweak that content and post on another site..it would work ..i guess.

According to SEO point of view duplicate content makes negative result on your websites because google not allow the duplication .

It is so simple - in SEO point of view - as we all know "Content is king" it should be unique.
