Sandbox question - when does a site go under sandbox?

When does a site get sand boxed? For on page SEO or off page SEO?

Some people here say we get sand boxed due to aggressive link building. Some say we get sand boxed due to on page keyword stuffing..

I do xrumer for my sites and build 10k links in 2 days. (once only)

But I did not get sand boxed instead I saw my site climbing up the serps. The on page SEO was perfect with a balance of everything.

So, how does on get sand boxed? Due to on page reasons or OFF page SEO reasons?

you get sandboxed because of the off page seo. new websites with thousands of backlinks in few days. the trick is not to index the backlinks if youmake thousands. let google find them the natural way

    I have a question:
Supposing the sandbox exists into your site, does it apply to an entire domain (when the domain is new) or to subdomains or to individual pages separately?

    In my opinion:

    Sandbox applies to off-page
    De-indexing/Banning applies to on-page

    I would say both.
Probably the most common reasons for getting into the supplemental index is via adding duplicate content (copy-paste stuff) or as a result of too aggressive or low quality link building (link farms, FFA websites, etc.).
Everything has to happen naturally, if you do something suspicious (10 000 link in a few days time, a huge amount of dup content within several days or even a unique one, but posted too quickly) the chance to be thrown in the Sandbox is very good.
