There are several reasons why a site would be in Google's sand box. One being that the site is a new site, the other being that you have done major changes to your site. But if you want to know for sure if your site has been sand boxed then here are the steps to find out. Step one is to determine if your site is sand boxed. The answer is yes to any of these apply to you.

First of all, forget the term Sandbox completely. If you type your full URL into the google search box and your site appears then you have been indexed and your site is visible to google. Now, if your site used to appear in the SERPS but all of a sudden doesn't seem to be there any more the reason is more than likely a google dance. This is where google's servers are updating and catching up with each other so to speak. It is very common for young sites to find themselves removed from the SERPS if they have alot of links pointing to them in a short amount of time. I built a new site and got it from page 40 to page 3 in a few weeks for a very competitive keyword and then out of the blue it disappeared for that search term. The site is not de-indexed or sandboxed. It is just moving around the SERPS wildly while Google figures out what it's true position should be. A theory of mine is that google may do this on purpose as a test to determine if the backlinks are natural or not. Many people panic when their site disappears from the SERPS and give up on link building because they think their site is gone for good. This will only confirm to google that the existing links were not natural after all. Just a theory mind you :)
If a site of mine disappears from the SERPS because of a google dance I just keep building backlinks and the site always reappears.

what i mean is that if you want to rank for the term internet marketing then you need to have a wide variety of links otherwise you will get knocked out of the index shortly. However this can be fixed just build more links with a wide variety of anchor text and you iwll be ok.

Interesting opinion. You named sandbox with other words. All that you described is named sandbox. :)

Just keep building links and wait it out, it probably won't be as long as you think :)

According to me, if there is a frequent checkup with a "check-list", like

    Related Links,
    Content,
    Web Traffic,
    Keyword,
    metatag,
    License and agreement / Copyright,
    Adword,
    Adsense,
    Google Analytics,......etc;

we can cross check once in a while to correct our errors and to make some changes to retain our rank.

    Checklist drives

If your site is not a new site, but you have made some major changes it may only take a month or two for Google to reassign your results rankings, and you may find your rankings are back to normal, or maybe even better. The key is to be patient and not to make other major changes until at least a month to see what happens with your rankings.

My first understanding of Google Sandbox is when you have stop doing linkbuilding to the site, after you get fraustrated that your SERP is not doing well. Then the real Google Sandbox is within ourselves. :p Moral Lesson is never stop walking. Unless you are not doing any "spam" or black hat methods, you will see good results

I'd just start a new site on a new domain, similar in topic, all from scratch going after the same niche. If you did your research in the first place you'd know you had a niche you could compete in, and what the best keywords should be. Life's too short to spend time with Google's noose around your neck - hoping, waiting, fearing, wondering, apologizing, 'fixing', praying over something Google clearly has control over anyways. Diversify! Move forward with new, wiser, revitalized efforts. Worse case scenario you'd be out <$10 for a new domain, and best case you'd have TWO money sites working for you for the long-haul! :)
