Getting Started in Marketing - Advice?

Say you had no clue about current marketing trends, where would you go for resources?

I have been "out of the game" for a few years and noticed many of the marketing tactics used then are not used now, this was before sites like Facebook even existed.

So where would I go to learn some of the strategies being used today?

I am not a big fan, but there is a lot of information there if you are willing to go through it.

I got my start in Internet marketing by just reading up here on DP. Tons of great forum topics and resources available here. Look for some one experienced who would be able to take you under their wing and mentor your.

 

Spend a great deal of time on forums on these as well as internet marketing blogs. Research, take notes and practice honing your new skill set on a daily basis.

The game has changed some but the core value of providing valuable content and networking with success-minded people in your niche is still the same when it comes to IM.

Most of the methods don't work anymore

(using Squidoo... etc..)

Just keep reading forums and blogs and look for new ways to sell and market.

 

keep reading tthis forum, the seo and link development are the sections you should focus on. although the general marketing section has some great new ideas every now and then.

 

You should need to evaluate the general marketing factors on what type of site you have, how much time you can give or are you interested to spend money on marketing campaigns! then try to browse different sections of DP to find more information related to the business

 

Just read this forum and get started quickly. You could only learn majority of the marketing stuff by trying it out.

 

Forums are great but you need a reference guide you can access when you need it. Get the Book Cunningly Clever Marketing. The guy that wrote this is the master of trial and error with marketing. Google It, buy it and make the investment.

 

seo that work 15 or 20 years do not really apply to seo of today cause the competition are a lot more. Just need to know about the basic first, try youtube.com then get help from forum which is very helpful and free.

 

You can read some books about marketing also this forum has good information about your needs. Just search on every topic you like and read threads.

 

Most of the ideas that'd be given are the same ideas we've all heard of already. You got be creative.

my advice would to simply take action that is the key to success do not sit on the fence you will go no where that is the bottom line you have got to open your mind and believe i will make this work read up on all yu can and put it to practice you cant fail when 110% is applied

 

You would go to internet marketing forums like this one or blogs. Warrior Forum is also an excellent internet marketing forum.

 

In these days I would say go with social networks.

 

In getting started you should create quality content and do article marketing for your site.
