    Yes, blog commenting do helps a lot in means of traffic as well as back-links. If your are commenting on your niche related blog it will be good for your blog as well as increases the probability of getting traffic.If we talk about back-links then it is possible only in case when blog or site is not a NoFollow blog, nofollow links are irrelevant for search engines thou can be used as a source of traffic(comment should be relevant).
    Commenting on niche related (dofollow) blog, increase your link value and search engine rate your blog/site URL high, in compare of comments on any nature blog other than your niche.
