    you didnt defined the blog platform either you're using blogger or wordpress else.

    One major mistake is not having patience. It takes a year or so to really establish a blog. It can be sooner with some heavy promotion, but realistic goals are a must. Most bloggers quit before they have a chance to succeed.

    1) post usefull usefull content. No hype no bs
    2) Reply each comment on your blog
    3) always put 'subscribe me' form on your blog.
    Etc..

    Try to post fresh content at least one a day. I like to place a email form above the fold offering a freebie to get readers to subscribe. I also like to rewrite an article related to each post, spin it, and submit to several major article directories to get more traffic.

    Social bookmark your posts, and maybe create a few Web 2.0 sites with links back to your main blog. Comment on related blogs with pingbacks, or direct commenting. Post good useful comments too.

    Blogging takes time, but the results are great when you do it right.
