Guys, which keyword has more traffic and searches and is better for top ranking, "Credit Cards" or "Credit Card"? Google says that "Credit Card" has more searches, but WordTracker reports that "Credit Cards" is more. I'm a power user, but just confused a little bit
I think you should go with Google because in my eyes Google is much more reliable than any other company....
why don’t you just check the activity of the first websites on the first pages for every keyword...and this way you could realize where to direct your efforts; many times...i follow neither google nor other tools...i just go and make a small research on the first pages for each keyword...see if there are comments...what alexa rank has each website...
Guys thanks for all of the information, i did a search for "Credit Card" and "Credit Cards", the result was that both sites that ranked for "Credit Card" are also ranked for "Credit Cards" as well, so the result was almost the same, i analyzed all of the sites on first page, their backlinks are really confusing, some are using their website name as keyword for backlinks, and some used "Credit Cards" as well as many other keywords like "Apply for credit card" "0 interest credit cards" etc..., they have not targeted any Specific keyword, it's just confusing.... I heard that If i will rank for "Credit Cards" i will also rank for "Credit Card" keyword. but you guys are saying "Credit Card" is better.... I just want to be rank for both, but like said not sure which one should be targeted, i also asked WordTracker about why they are showing different result than Google, they told me this: Also their results is just for US (UK is also available alone), maybe in US people search about "Credit Cards" more that "Credit Card"? my market is in US, i will not profit from UK and any other countries. maybe google is showing the result of ALL countries? Anyways thanks for all suggestions, i will try to go with "Credit Card" as all of you said, but if anybody else can give me some more information it would be MUCH appreciated.
I suggest to use "credit cards" instead of "Credit Card". The reason is have you seen some time that google or other search engine compares a most relevant keyword. So if you use "Credit Card" it will difficult that it will include "Credit Cards" but if you use "Credit Cards" I think it will include "Credit Card".
I think "credit card" is more valuable, because it is used in more long tail search phrases than "credit cards" from my research.
First find the search volume of those keywords in keyword tools. i think you can use both the keywords. "Credit Cards" keyword it self has credit card phrase. find the competitor and search volume then decide the keywords.
You needn't to worry about which keywords to choose. Keep all your keywords, hot and long tail. All keywords can help you get more traffic.
Use google adwords and/or trends ... Google adwords will show you last 3 months search volumes..... This will definitely help you to search for more keywords with the help of automatic synonym.
