    Hi Guys,

I know posting in forums and leaving a signature is good but I have one question...

Do the forums have to be relevant?

For example, I have a car leasing site, do I have to post on forums about cars or will other forums such as this one do the same job??

    Thanks:eek:

Actually, if you really want real traffic and revenue for your site, then do work on the same category. Always follow good search engine promotion method rather than showing fake traffic.

Give threads and reply the answers with quotes.

The more related the site the better. But from an unrelated site you will still benefit form the links.

I personally say that forum does'nt need relevancy. But truly speaking if you prefer category which is relevant to your business and if you give solutions to that it will be more good.

if you are just building a link then it's ok with unrelated forums but if you want strong back link as well as targeted traffic then you have to care about relevancy of forums.

Exactly as discussed and suggested, going for the word relevancy generates traffic for your website.

Relevancy is important in a sense that what ever you comment must be according to the topic in discussion. Don't go away from topic.

Forums signatures links could be a good back link, but not a relevant back links unless you post it on relevant forum.

do relevant forums first then if you run out of relevant forums, which i doubt, then you can move on to other forums.

Google keeps on pushing "RELEVANT" bar higher and higher in their algorithm.

So, I would say, posting on relevant forums to your site, in your case is car related is advisable.

I'm sure if you run a search engine business, you would prefer to show only highly relevant contents to your users.
This is what most search engines struggles to do.
So, keeping relevant backlinks from forum posting will definitely be helpful.

    Hi,

The best thing to do is Do BOTH. Do post on forums that are relelvant and non-relevant. This way it will look more natural to Google.

well yes i would advice you to go for relevant forums only as relavancy is the top priority in the "G" eye.
Besides that you may use few webmasters forums

Relevant forums will be more beneficial. But focus on the relevant comment not relevant topic.

Google crawler is just a bot. checking relevancy is only by analyzing the keywords of the page. Only a bot can analyze the words in a page. and if some keywords are found in the page same as that of your anchor text, google consider that as a relevant link. Then page title is also important factor for a bot to consider that as relevant.

So we can simply make any page relevant by putting some keywords there. But for getting genuine traffic from the forums, you should select the forum according to your category. Use google discussion search for finding relevant forums.
