I don't think you need to make a sitemap for the blog..if you want to get it cached faster submit in blog directories

I would use a new sitemap located in /folder/ if you have 2 sitemaps located in different folders it's all good.

Its simple, you have to drag text widget in your menu areas and paste your adsense code
but adsense couldn't be applied on free wordpress hosting

If you have used the wordpress for blog then you do not need to create sitemap.xml file by your own. You can install sitemap plugin and it will create the siremap automatically and will update it as you post new blog posts.

I think the opposite. You should have a sitemap in your blog, as soon as you configure your posts and pages as 'dofollow' in your html code as well as in your robots.txt file.

If you are using wordpress for blogging then they already have a internal tool that you can download (plugin) that will generate sitemap.
Use permalinks wherever it is possible.

If your blog is built on wordpress software, the xml sitemap plugin is absolutely perfect. I think sitemaps are an important part of any website and Googles webmaster tools provides you with some really useful information like...

    - How many webpages you have indexed with google.
    - What search terms your site is ranking for in google.
    - How many links google has recognised that point to your site

    etc, etc.

Some very useful stuff for a website owner or webmaster.
