How to change IP address of the computer. Whenever I am trying "ipconfig /renew", its assigning me the same IP address. Can't we obtain a new IP address than existing one?

That depends on how your network is configured, how your pc is configured and how your connection to the internet is provided. Way to many variables to be able to answer your question. Why do you want a new IP address on your pc?

I am curious about and also have to deal with some IP address changes... I was reading about ipconfig commands. And I read about ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.. so I tried that on my computer.

My computer has been provided cable internet. My pc is configured to accept DHCP addresses.

I want to see the IP changing because at some other place, I have to change the IP addresses to allocate the database access to those particular IPs after change.

Ok, well if your getting your IP from your internet provider, and your pc is getting it's IP from the modem, the only time you'll see a change is if the cable provider has you on a dynamic ip or static ip. Even a dynamic ip will sometimes re-capture the same ip even after the lease on the ip expires. So I don't think you'll have much luck gettin a new ip. Sorry.

If you have DSL you can just unplug and plug back in your modem (wait about 10 seconds)

If you have cable you'll have to unplug your modem, change your mac address on the modem, then plug it back in.... it takes about 1-2 minutes.

Here's a good video on it:

    Reputation points would be appreciated!

It's true that if you have a dynamic one, you can simply reset your modem to obtain a new IP address. I do get a dynamic IP address by simply click "disconnect" button on the software, and then click "connect" again.
Another alternative is VPN which will cost you some bucks, and I've also heard of proxies.
