    Well, Sitemaps helps the web crawler to navigate the websites. The use of Sitemap is most essential if the site has pages that can only be accessed through user entry.

    It is not must to create a sitemap.xml as if your website is well interlinked and has some quality backlinks, Google crawlers will follow you automatically and index your web pages. However, it is recommended to create a sitemap.xml so that you can provide a url to crawlers where they can find all the urls of your website.

    Using sitemaps has many benefits, not only easier navigation and better visibility by search engines. Sitemaps offer the opportunity to inform search engines immediately about any changes on your site. Of course, you cannot expect that search engines will rush right away to index your changed pages but certainly the changes will be indexed faster, compared to when you don't have a sitemap.

    XML sitemap has the priority option which tells search engine robots which page is more important and should crawl first. So sitemap plays a very important role in seo thing.
