Do meta tags still hold importance ?

meta keywords specially do they hold an importance when it comes to search ??

 

No they do not.But someday they may again. You never know with Google. My thought is to add them just in case if it is not to much trouble.

 

adding them to dynamic sites are a little tough but static sites i guess its a good habit

 

Personally I think it's a waste of time. As Barre Tire pointed out, they are not counted now. My question is - why will they ever be counted again in the future? It would just be a step backwards, allowing webmasters to use this tag to manipulate rankings. So I can't see it ever being useful. The only thing you are doing is giving away the keywords you are targetting to a potential competitor.

 

At present time Google is not giving much importance to Meta Tags.

 

I think the description meta tag is important because it won't help you rank higher but it can help clickthrough to your webpage. For example, on some phpBB forums the default description shows the number of topics and posts and users online. With a meta description you can describe your page in a way that more people will click on the result.

 

Meta tags, including both "keywords" and "description", are no longer important from Google perspective in seo. However, any spam attempt on these tags defined by Google would hit your website that hard. I would not recommend do any spam attempt on these tags at all cost. The proper made of these tags would do nothing while spam would get your website no where in search results.

The only important of meta description is - They will be used in your website description in Google search results. It could help drive more traffics to your website if their looking are appeal and convince enough.

 

Meta tags are not important nor i think they will count again.cos of webmasters manipulating the serp.

 

Well i guess then ill just use description for the purpose of describing the site

 

Offcourse they do with title tag being most important of all

 

The only useful metatag is the description because it lets searcher know to whether your site is relevant their search

 

Nowadays,i dont think Google still gives importance to meta tags.

 

Whether they effect your search engine position or not, you need good meta tags for the convenience of your users. I wouldn't click on a search result if it doesn't have a relevant description and search engines usually show your meta description in their results.

 

Yeah Description Meta Tags have fair advantage than Tags it gives your site visibility on most of keyword you used there

 

Yes!!! Still, they are more important to get more visitors and search engine peeping.

I think nowadays meta tags still hold some weight.

 

Meta tag is no more important than previous, the google search are totally ignore mate tag

 

In my own experiences, Meta keywords tag might be omit on Google but meta description tag is still important for ranking purpose.
