Why does google rank previously visited pages higher?

    I thought maybe my rankings had gone up, but when I completely erased my browsing history it dissapeared. Does google actually rank visited pages higher? I'm dissapointed because for a brief moment I thought my rankings had surged aha.

    Google modifies search engine result pages by search history and hits. Is you want an accurate result use in private function. Ctrl+Shift+p is Mozilla.

    Its Google... the search history has been here for 2-3 years now. Its not modified by your browser, its modified by your Google acount (IP address if not logged in)

    Ah, see I'm constantly logged into my adsense/webmaster tools account, which is probrably why...I don't know why I've never noticed it before.

    Private browsing is on all browsers these days...in chrome, I've just discovered, it is Ctrl + Shift + N

    IE = Ctrl + Shift + P
