I think it would be good to have a list of the top 5 article directories.

For me one of those spots would have to go to Qondio (which I used to be affiliated with). I have two articles at Qondio for my latest project, and those alone have put me on page 1 of the SERPs (albeit the #10 spot).

I don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket though, so I need to decide where else to put my high-quality articles. I typically spend 2-3 days on an article - I've found that crappy regurgitated drivel that takes 10 minutes to write doesn't help bring in link juice.

What are your experiences in terms of results?

Let's see if we can come up with a shortlist of the best article directories. Criteria would be:

1. Outgoing links must be dofollow, and dofollow forever
2. Article directory must have strong PR
3. Not under any kind of penalty
4. Well-organized structure allowing articles to be found and browsed
5. Good traffic and good chance of syndication.

I don't think the best article directories have to be free. You get what you pay for. I'm always happy to pay for membership or premium accounts if it gives me more exposure and away from spam.

Looks there might be 100s of them but the best so far is ezinearticle.com. Their editorial staff is the best and approving a article on ezine is not something easy. I got my platinum account banned recently for poor articles.

I would suggest ezine. Google loves it and it has authority.

As i look in the seo prospective there every article site is important because it give us a whole bunch of backlinks to our website but if you need than i think ezine article is the best one for the webmasters. So add your article to this site and prepare for the Cheng of your site ranking.

Just one think Aaron, forget about pagerank. Care most about the traffic they get and from which you may get more articles republished. The link from many of those sites have no SEO value. By the why articlebase is no follow.
