My complaint to the company SONY, check it out.

See how aggressive I was in my most outright worst complaint I've ever had to make about anything and anyone in my life. So repulsed.

    To whom it may concern,
    Dear SONY,
I have a little story to pass on to you which I would love to be passed onto a manager just because I would like to know his reponse to my little dillema.

I bought my first Playstation 3 in late 2008 and that's after I already fell in love with your company and its products and it all started with my old sound systems from SONY. Within the first year of owning model CECHG01 (fat) PS3 40 gigabyte it had broken down on me. Now after researching for I would say an entire year till this date to learn about the issues with the playstation 3 consoles via forums and chat channels to find out some of this information:

After a latest SONY firmware update (mandatory as always) you are in turn taking part in a LARGE chance of your Playstation 3 dying and needing replacement.Without warranty they will not replace your system. Basically when the Playstation 3 stays on for about 3 hours or more it will overheat and burn out your blu-ray diode in the blu-ray disc player within the system. The only issue in the ps3 is it will cease to read discs. Everything else works but, when you put a disc in the PS3 it will just keep spinning and not load. That will need replacement or in other words you need to send it into SONY for repair which costs the same ammount as buying an entirely new Playstation 3. You can try replacing it yourself but then you void their warranty.

So tell me. Why should I have to fix and pay for a product doomed for failure from the very beginning if I am the consumer buying the working product off of you? I cannot afford to pay for a new ps3 every single time it dies. I learnt that the newer PS3 slim models have resolved this issue but you haven't replaced all the old ones people bought, have you? I also think the slim model is uglier and cheaper looking and the plastic on the eject button design was changed and looks so much worse.

I paid close to $300 for my first Playstation 3 model and bought a few games along side it. I've purchased nearly 50 games ever since and many SONY branded products including HDMI cables, accessories, etc. I was even planning on buying the mini hand-held device you make that works in conjunction with the ps3. After the first year in 2009 my ps3 froze on me one day and like I mentioned stopped reading discs --ONLY AFTER A FIRMWARE UPDATE. That is repulsive, I know for a fact that the settings changes broke the console. I went to all extents of reading how to fix it yourself on the internet. Before doing that I called your company and was quoted the only way to fix it is to send it in and quoted me $200 USD. Does that make any sense? Are those your usual charges? I only get a 1 year warranty and it broke right after so you won't repair it?
I refused to pay $200 doubting that would even fix the issue. I decided to sell it AS-IS on eBay and get a new one in better shape. I found a guy who just needed a hard drive in his PS3 and everything else worked for cheap but still spent around $180 before shipping. I got it and was super happy after getting everything resolved except I could not recover half the data with over 100 hours of game time spent lost, how should I feel?
Next I know, this is still an older (fat) ps3 model (non-slim version) and within 2 months after a smooth transaction from purchasing the console it broke down. Two months of owning it it broke as well, should I have just gone to stores and spent another $300 before or after to have that warrantied PS3 break down on me also? Great.
So then I got so frustrated, I started showing up late to work and had terrible days because I don't feel like spending more money with my bad luck with SONY products.
I was soooo relieved to know a friend was too busy to use his and he told me he didn't need it and I coul dhave it with his equipment as well, I gave him $100 CAN. ???
Broke, this year in 2010.. Few months ago, same old issue. I think I'm trying to prove a point here?
Okay, so I'm coming close to 1 grand after just wanting 1 $300 Playstation 3, my original budget.
Here's my new situation. Back to the present just last week I ordered a playstation 3 off a wholesaler in China using a supposedly safe trading online company alibaba.com. I wanted a sample wholesale 120gig slim model playstation 3 to see if I might order more. I was able to find an amazing deal for $150 with shipping, after a wire-transfer payment I was short $177USD.
I was just recently scammed by this person because after receiving the tracking number it turns out that it was not addressed to my address and I did not receive any goods and do not know if I can getmy money back yet. You may think I am unsafe without a warranty but that is .. .

I even work for Blockbuster Canada and guess what. I do not get discounts on your consoles or get anything really cheaper that you sell. I have spent so much time and all I really want to do is play God Of War 3. Please give me your most sincere recommendations on what I should do... I'm kind of fed up, and please don't recommend where to purchase another one at retail costs.

    Sincerely....
    -Jeremy

She will try and sell you some steroids ( signature link ) so that you can walk in to a SONY building looking and feeling like hulk - then your problem is sorted.

    :p

As long as I don't send a secure check or have someone pick up my money from Western Union and send me a fake tracking number that's on it's way to someone else's house.

always buy the warranties and extended warranties on all Sony products then when they need repairs you are only out smaller amounts of money

That really sucks, I wouldn't buy a product without warranty cause that's really risky. Better spend more at least you're assured.

I've always loved their products and stood behind them, had good experiences with them.... however there was one thing about them I don't like. I hear they low ball offers for R&D and try to lock you into a contract so they own you and your soul and everything you and your people create for years for a measly puny 4 figures, to their loyal followers who attempt to expand the boundaries of their devices.

There will always be defects in machines, there will always be unknowns, there will always be mishaps. Doesn't matter who it is.

My PSP is still alive for 3 years! (well my analog stick is kinda wobbly now) Still it works fine for a portable device, it sure it durable. However, I just don't update my firmware unless I really need it for new games.
