One man's DMOZ debacle!

Unfortunately, I can be a real jokester sometimes around these forums. I made an offhand remark about me selling DMOZ listings in an earlier thread here from someone (a rather pathetic someone I might add) begging for help to listed.

    See my comment here:

Well wouldn't you know, people would take that stuff seriously. I recieved a Yahoo IM message later that day wanting to know if I was for real (should have saved it but I wasn't thinking!), and I recieved this PM here on DP earlier today, which I did save. :p

Yep, the URL was included in that pic just in case any REAL editor wanted to check things out. :D

For some people getting a listing in DMOZ is a question of life or death :)

You have missed a great opportunity here, you should have sent him rates, take his money and donate it to some charity and then post screenshots! :D

Remember Murphy's words of wisdom: "It's morally wrong to allow suckers to keep their money". ;)

Well that was definately a mistake. That site will have no chance of making it into dmoz after that.

Oh I don't know that it was a mistake, at least it was very helpful for the editors. ;)

    Don't ban his sites!

Maybe he took it upon himself to carry out a one-man sting operation to frame PortProphecy.

For all you know, he might be DMOZ's hero, and you should reward him with mucho deeplinkos.

Not sure you can find a deeplink on that site - "sparse" would be generous.

I meant to deeplink his real site, which of course he didn't mention in his communication with PortProphecy. The site he mentioned to PortProphecy was a dummy site for the sting operation.

Well, Muhammad Haris has neither responded to me via PM nor in this thread, and I noticed he has avoided the forum altogether since about 3 hours after I posted this. Embarassed maybe?

No, he's filling up the paper work at the prosecutor's office to have YOU put behind bars, you crook.

Ding, dong! Bailiff's at the door. You better answer, PortProphecy.

ODP blacklists a site, that's reason enough to unload it??? My, this guy's illusions on the worth of an ODP link must be fueled by a few gallons of LSD.
