How to track how many conversions from a referrer?

Discussion in 'Google Analytics' started by webbusiness23, Jun 20, 2010.

I just bought some text links and a few banner spaces on some websites.
How can i see how many persons from the ones coming from a specific URL bought something from my site using Google Analytics? (meaning: how can i see how much visitors from a certain URL convert)

    Thanks!

There are a couple of ways to do this. Probably the easiest is to set up a custom segment.

In analytics, when you are looking at your site profile, in the top right hand corner there is "advanced segments - all visits" If you click on all visits and then custom segement, you can select the source of the referrals to track.

Once you have put in all the referral sources you need, you can save the segment.

Now you can track how all the visitors from your advertising behave on your site. This includes conversions. It is not a bad way to track click fraud too.

    Ok, i tried that.
I added a new segment, i added a "source" that "matches exactly" my referrer (e.g. my_rereffer_site.com), i gave a name to the segment, and saved it.

    How are the conversions tracked?

    Thank you!

So then, if you have the conversions set up properly, on the left hand side, under "goals" you have the number of conversions, number of abandons etc.

Check Google Analytic > Traffic Source > Referral Sites
