I Hate PR

You know, PR is a major pain in my a**. I have a few new sites that are getting good traffic. All rank well already but I want to do some good link exchanging with more authority sites.

The problem stems from these people demanding a PR rank of 3+ and the ever-so-rare PR update taking absolutely forever.

Before PR, all you needed was a good standing in the link popularity checkers like http://www.widexl.com/remote/link-popularity/index.html and people reciprocated.

Now its PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR PR

BTW, I still like that widexl popularity checker more than marketleap's newer version.

    RANT OVER

Yeah, I have a site I want to submit to a very good directory. Problem is that I need to give them a link back and I have PR0.

    We'll just have to wait.

Agreed. PR doesn't mean wht it used too and novice web "masters" hang too much on it. After all, gg isn't even putting up the real thing...at least not in a timely manner.

It's time for yahoo to push a WebRank and MSN to push for a XBoxRank :)

Well, if they don't want to do a public PR update ever again, they need to show EVERY SITE a grey bar. Ahh imagine the traffic on all these SEO forums.. poor admins. <g>

Waiting sucks for those that have a lot to do. I hate being at the whelm of a damn engine.

I'm beginning to care less about PR and more about links and traffic. I thought about this last night and came to the conclusion that the only benefit of PR seems to be that you can sell links based on it.

But I'd much rather have traffic, visitors, and clicks on my adsense rather than be able to sell links.

And it seems like PR is just a waiting game.

I think PR is a good thing, but I dislike how Google updates it. If Google still doesn't update it tomorrow, I will try to ignore it.

I hate PR too, but i understand the necessity for it.

Best thing is to have a good site or original content, then sites will link to you
    regardless of PR.

it is a "necessity evil" if i must say.

PR is for the world to see but for site owners what matters is the traffic and the sales and the business etc that comes their way..

I'm getting fed up with PR as well. I'm spending more time trying to get backlinks, and adding to directories, than I'm spending on actually working on my site.

At least some of the directories are giving me some traffic back.

I guess you are right crusader.

You must first get your site worth while and people would automatically aks for links for your site.

I've always emphasized on creating a content rich site which people would love to offer to their visitors and you have most of battle won for PR.

You site will market itself and you would be better off with it.

Well, the site is pretty much as I want it, and I've got good content as far as the quality and quantity of the wallpapers go.

The thing is, I would rather be out and about looking for new additions, brokering usage rights with some artists, and creating some wallpapers myself, than running around trying to get links from other sites.

I always believed in "Built a great site, and they'll come", but now...

Agreed. I recently wrote about the way PR has been encapsulated in mythology and is seen by many webmasters as the be-all and end-all of linking. Hardly surprising with all of the PR link selling that is going on just now.

What is really important about PR is that it is a central component to Google's patents. Which is why PR manipulation using PR link brokers is about to get ugly, imho anyway.

Personally, I don't give a stuff about PR. I seek links. Unfortunately, some uninformed webmasters, and there are many, view PR0 as not worth linking to. They don't allow for the next PR update when many PR0 sites will hit PR3 and PR4 overnight and therefore miss the opportunity to trade links with decent, but new, websites.

This exactly is the problem I face lotta times when I do link building campaigns for my clients with PR0 website.

And I always give the same reason that in th next PR update our site will have PR3 or higher PR.

But this update stuff is not understood by all.
