Using keywords in blog posts

So I've been using the Wordpress plugin Scribe while writing blog posts, and it is telling me to insert the same keyword probably five or six times in a blog post.

My question would be is this necessary if I am updating the blog at least once a day? I understand the point of using the same keyword repeatedly, but it seems like I am sacrificing the content by trying to use the keyword so much. The blog posts i'm writing are typically short news blurbs, and not feature length articles. I would understand if I was writing a post maybe once a week, but with the constant updates I wonder if this is still necessary.

Would be interested to get your input on this.

For a small blurb of text, that many keywords may hurt more than help. I'm no expert, but that seems excessive.

Hi) of course you mustn't use very many keywords, coz people who read it can find it unnatural, and more keywords don't mean more traffic, there is one rule which works in this situation: the few - the more.

Stick to proper keyword density ratio 500 words article 4-6% keyword density ratio.. Don't overdo it.

Write for your visitors. Keyword density is not a usable metric. It is safe to assume that if you over do it that it looks and reads like spam or poorly written for that matter. Not a bad rule of thumb. Keyword density and ranking sites are in no way synonymous.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Nigel, I could not agree more... I see way too many people stuffing their blog comments/posts with keywords in what is supposed to be a few lines. Not only does it read like repetitive gibberish but it DOES come off as spam. I'd say use it once if you must.

In blog posting, you should not use more than 3 keywords otherwise it will result in spam.
