Having a really tough time with Adwords and Google places with advertising a business. I've had a website for many years, but haven't been able to get "on the map" locally. Would be willing to pay for anyone who can help me. Thanks!

Do you have a physical location aswell that you can use? Depending on your method of doing it, Your Phone + Address must be within the same area that you are applying for.

I mainly work with certain types of companies but I have a great company I work with that does other markets.

What type of business is it? Are you physically located in the city you want to get ranked in?

Google Places works like this; if you have a verified listing with them, then it relies on the number of "authoritative" mentions of your address in conjunction with your business name. This basically means that you need to have yellow pages, white pages, public directories, your website etc listing your address with a link to your website.

It also depends on how far you are from the centre of the location searched for. So for instance, we have a client called Bondi Pilates, they should be the first when you do a map search for "bondi pilates", but because they are outside of the main town, they don't get listed. We are working on increasing the number of yellow pages etc listings, but there is not much you can do about it.

There are a tonne of free classifieds websites you can post ads to. Make sure the name of the ad has your location in it.

Depending on the business, you might find a local website that reviews your type of business. You don't need a lot fo reviews just make sure you have a profile.

Creative Development actually do this for a living, so it is probably better you contact us for a proposal.
