How to check real backlink?

    As for the backlinks numbers in webmaster tools....my opinion, don't worry about it. If it is anything like doing a backlink search in google (where it typically only brings back 1% or so of your total backlinks), it is an absolute joke. Why should google have any incentive to give you real backlink data? If they did, it would likely only fuel the backlinking arms race.

    In the case of checking backlinks, Yahoo Site Explorer is always more accurate than Google.

    yes ..google will only show that links ..that are cached by google .....so if you want to search all back links of your site use tool like backlinkwatch dot com.

    Well, you can check your site back links in Google manually by:

    Site: site url put this syntax in Google, than you get back links against that site url.

    You can also use tools to check back link like back link checker tool , but it cannot give you accurate and effective results.

    I've been using webmaster tools to check my backlinks and it seems to be the most reliable so far - has anyone had any success using anything other than yahoo site explorer?

    (note: by success, I mean 'more accurate results')
