Hi everyone! I need a logo for an online education website. The website is online--degree.com. The client would like a logo that includes the name of the website (online--degree.com or just online--degree), and calls attention to the double dash ( - - ) between online and degree. The idea for the double dash is speed in getting a degree, and the client would like this concept to be conveyed in the logo. The client does not want an image of a person running as part of the logo, though some other character could be acceptable. They want a sleek logo that is futuristic or computerized, (but no space ships or stars); think "Back to the Future II" meets education. The client wants the logo to convey that getting a degree will make you more professional, sophisticated, and increase your money-earning power. The winner will need to provide the logo in either a PSD or vector file (I'd prefer both, but this is not required) Please submit all questions and submissions through the thread, rather than sending me a PM. That way I don't have to repeat myself so much, and the whole general contest can benefit from your skills and creativity. Edit: A few people have asked me what the client means by "futuristic" so I went ahead and asked him. He had a hard time in putting it into words, but he said that he had 2 things in mind, and submissions could do one or the other, or both. 1) futuristic meaning shinny and metallic, like this. 2) having shiny surfaces, gently curved and "new or modern looking" edges, and a 3-D effect, like this, or this. Also, the client mentioned that he liked a "glow" effect, if done right, kind of like what you see here or here. Again, those aren't necessarily the pictures or colors he wants, but he likes those styles and effects, and wants you to be creative to come up with something like that for the website logo. Thanks, and good luck! The contest will be for 48 hours, or until a clear winner is decided. I will give prompt feedback for the submissions as the contest runs (unless I'm sleeping at the time). Please let me know in the thread if you have any questions, and best of luck!
@Vaun Seed: Thanks for your submission. I like how the dashes look like a "D" for degree. The client, however, wants something more futuristic with a metallic shine. They thought the dashes looked more like arrows and didn't think they were distinct enough for the customer to remember that there are 2 dashes in the name. @crowquill: This is a very fun design. It is not the futuristic look the client was going for, but I will include it in the finals and see what they think. Could you make the 2 dashes a just little longer? Maybe instead of having ".com" on top, either take it out or try it rotated 90 degrees on the side of the word degree. @vaibhavmeswani: Thank you for your submission. It looks very professional, but it is not the look the client is wanting.
@crowquill: Thanks for the revision. I like the .com on the side and the length of the dashes, but could you use the color scheme of your first entry? The blue and yellow looked nice together.
@vaibhavmeswani: You did a really good job of emphasizing the two dashes in the third submission, but the client wants some sort of graphic as well and wants it to be more futuristic. Thanks!
@crowquill: Thank you for your submission. I like the top logo of your last submission with the .com on the side. No further changes are necessary, and it will be submitted with the finalists.
@mobidik025: Wow, those are some nice designs. However, in talking to this client, he wants something more futuristic looking, and no crest. @vaibhavmeswani: No, you aren't a bother. We like getting submissions. The blue and gold worked better with crowquill's design; that's not necessarily what the client is looking for in ALL submissions, however. Also, the client doesn't want the dashes above and at the end of the words, or else it's not clear how they fit into the website's name. Having them over the e's of degree is nice, but not what this client wants. @everyone: A few people have asked me what the client means by "futuristic" so I went ahead and asked him.
