Why I Left Squidoo

When they were not yet popular, Squidoo used DOFOLLOW.
Now that people had helped them grow they use NOFOLLOW.

You should never depend on one source for your link building strategy.

Guest posts are the way to go because you can reach to highly relevant niche communities in comparison to the wide audience on Squidoo - just start building a relationship with the other blogger and see if they would accept your guest post sometime :)

Previously Squidoo plays a big role in link building but now they are nofollow. By the way my suggestion is don't rely on one resource alone. Try to find quality links aside from that. :D

Use many other sites like squidoo which gives do follow links. There are many blogs also which gives gives do follow in comments. That is a real source of backlinks.

I was under the impression that squidoo were only nofollow if you didn't have enough modules (I think it's 5, but don't quote me), and/or were brand new. I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong, as they've never been something I've used a lot, but I don't think all squidoo links stay nofollow

Ning.com is a big NOFOLLOW. Blogs and forums in Ning are NOfollow.

Nope. When you check your profile link (contains your blog post) in Ning.com. , you'll see that the links there are dofollow.

That's common for most popular websites that are involved with blogging.

And that is disgusting. When they just started out and need help from us ordinary webmasters, they made their sites dofollow but when they are already so popular they abandoned us and forgot our contributions to their site's growth. That's why Digg also sucks; it made its own url shortener and toolbar.
