How to Rank on the First Page of Google

    Hello everybody

I'm about to reach page 1 for a few pretty good keywords but for awhile now I've been sitting in the same spot. I know it takes time but I just have some questions on how to get to that first page and first 5 results or so.

Basically I want to know how I should build backlinks? I've been hearing article submission is the best because they're related links. So I was wondering is this true? Or are there better ways to build quality backlinks.

As for article submission, ezinearticles takes like 7 days and I'm wondering if it would be more beneficial to me to build blogs related to my site and write articles with links inside them?

These blogs would be PR0 and most likely hosted on BlogSpot and WordPress so they will be PR0 with no backlinks going to them... will this help me at all or would it be better to submit articles to article submission sites? If so, what are some good article submission sites besides ezinearticles.

    Thanks

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1835616 good chat about linkbuilding going on there. I would further suggest reading the sticky from Dan Schulz in this particular forum as well as this http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4303354#post4303354 see his post there as well (#9)

Some of that is about site architecture and some about effective link building but all those articles are high level means of thinking about things.

I hope that is not too vague. I am a tad swamped right this sec.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

EDIT: Wheat Ridge ehh... how are things on the front range. It is flippen cold and nasty here lol..

Yes, Dan Schulz is a great source of information, though I can't agree with everything he states.

so i would recommend u to build a random link wheel from 6 web 2.0 properties and put your main blog/site (don't link to ur main page of the site) in it and mix them up ,,,this will ramp up your position from where u are to the 1st page if done it correctly

and for the article directories here u are:

    Submit Your Article
    Suite101
    Helium
    ArticleDashboard
    ArticleBase
    GoArticles
    SearchWarp
    Isnare
    ArticleCity
    Article Alley
    Articles Factory
    Article Snatch

if u need any advice on seo pm me..

    Forget about link wheels.

TS, build links from different sources, there are many of them. Do not focus only on article submissions.
Also, do not forget to build links for your deep pages. All links leading to mainpage is very suspisious.

Finally, killing suggestion - build internal links from your textual content of other pages to this promoted page that you mention, where the anchor text is your keywords - cost you $0.00. Uhhhrrrr, then you will be in Top10.

Gaining Back Links is important and to get a high page rank these should seem as organic as possible.

The only other way that is very effective other than articles is making several Squidoo lenses

    http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/dandan594

Squidoo Already have a high PR8 and will give you much better and deep links for your site, using them help my site gain a lot more traffic and i recommend them to all.

    I hope this helps

Ok...You are going to continue getting an array of opinions and ideas with regards to this. Regardless of which way you decide to go remember that there are TWO things that are important: QUALITY and CONTENT.

Now, as far as increasing your backlinks, I suggest that you concentrate on the Off-Page SEO tactics. These include but is not limited to: forum and blog posting and commenting (make sure you participate with quality comments, NOT spammy ones), Classifieds, Social bookmarking, and of course article writing and submission. You must ensure that your articles are of high quality, that they have a decent balance between keywords and information. Your sentences should be well structured and should convey a message. As far as directories is concerned, submit to directories with high PR. Oh... and please DO NOT do linkwheel. It may work initially but if you are caught, it will be rather detrimental.

Try building back links with your chosen keyword as your anchor text.
Keep your content as unique and fresh.
do Social Bookmarking and other link-building strategies.
Before submissions you make ensure of the keyword chosen. The most important thing you can do is to carefully research your keywords, identifying the phrases most likely used to find your Web site. Along with those submissions include Classified ads, Reciprocal links and press release distribution. You can also have a link on specific keyword while posting forums.

Aside from Article submission and blog commenting/submission, here are other ways to create links:

    forum posting
    classified ads
    press release
    social bookmarking and networking
    online group posting

Just make sure to create links from relevant and DoFollow sites.

Few days, back one of my websites was nowhere in TOP 100. I did a lot of Press releases and wrote some articles and I find it in TOP 30 after few weeks. I wrote some more PRs but I was unable to rank it better and it was stucked on the same spot. What I did was building some profile links. There are many dofollow profile links sites with high pagerank. Go for that.

Not only this, social bookmarking on the sites like propeller.com is great for improving rankings. I hired someone to post some bookmarks on propeller.com and I got my website ranking improved. But, till now I could not hit the 1st page of Google.

Moreover, I changed the way and started posting free classified ads to get traffic. We want rankings because we want traffic, then why not free classified ads. I recently got a guide on free classified ads from this website. It really helped me to gain 100+ visitors from free classified ads and 3 sales using their method.

    Now, I am doing:
    - Press Release
    - Writing Articles
    - Free Classified Ads
to get traffic to my sites and improving its ranking.

    Hope it helps!

I would say a bit of link building and quality content will do, if you run a blog using wordpress I strongly recommend that you use wpunique plugin, you can then get articles from articlebase from exemple and wpunique will do the rest, you can even find yourself on google page 1 and thus generate traffic.

Also, a great recommandation, when you write an article, try to post negatives though about your article subject, it will also attract people who are 100% with the article idea.

Drew68 is right. Focus on high PR related backlinks. 5 of these are better than 500 PR 0 unrelated links.

I'm lazy, and I usually pay someone on freelancer.com to do it all for me.
Just ask them to write 25 250 word articles about your niche and then ask them to submit each one to a list of article directories.
Should cost you between $50 and $75. But it will get you around 250 decent links
