I have a site based and running on Joomla i want to migrate to wordpress but the joomla site is well indexed with search engines so i want to keep the same links as the joomla site had Now the two problems are :- Any tool available for converting joomla database into wordpress and What abt the links and the corresponding changes in the new site with wordpress CMS Please help
Wordpress is not a CMS, it is a blogging software/platform. There exists a plugin for Joomla that allows a "fully functional" Wordpress integration with Joomla. If you are interested, check it out : LINK I do not know of a migration tool to take your Joomla database over to a Wordpress installation. It is a step down in usefulness.
thanks for the reply blue star i understood what u said the difference abt wordpress and joomla thanks for the link i will see to that
I think the link matching is possible, but if you have a lot of pages to do, it may not be worth your time.
I don't know of anything that converts one to the other. You may have to rebuild. If you can export your content into an XML file, it is a step in the right direction. You can import into Wordpress with XML. Well now...this is new information. Care to elaborate on why now all of a sudden Wordpress is not a CMS? And how if that is true, how Joomla is anything different? Edited: You know what, scratch that. I don't even care.
No, how many pages is it? You would need to use htaccess to 301 your old urls to your new ones. hope that helps, Nigel
@techmafia No worries, I can help you out in it. Wordpress allows a URL structure Option. We can change it to whatever we want, add .html, or Give style like home.com/category/post name which is currently your site structure. You got that? You can contact me now or whenever you want a help from me. Thanks.
yaa i am aware of the custom permalinks on wordpress thanks man u really awakened me will definately consider moving into WP from Joomla
Set up Wordpress ,re-create all pages , then immediately do a 301 permanent redirect for each page to its new url , i think that should be ok , Google will be fine with that if you do it properly
