Hello friends, I have a blog in Portuguese, I wonder if I have any problem sending social bookmarks in English. For the social bookmarks that exist in the Portuguese language is not of a high pagerank as many as nofollow. Does Google penalize me for it? Thanks!
Forget about that pal, go to your regional directories and bookmarks. It's not a matter of pagerank but relevance.
Yes,it is about the relevance,but you can try anyway,it won't harm your site but only will help you.Google will not penalize you.I know that from my expierence because my site in not in english and I still do bookmarks that help me to gain backlinks and more visitors.Go ahead.Hve fun.
It's not a problem whether it is a dofollow backlink or a no follow backlink. You can work on both. The problem with no follow backlinks is, it won't pass PR linkjuice.

It's ok to post non-English bookmarks to English bookmarking sites. I have some customers with Russian sites, I help them with social bookmarks submissions and though their sites are in Russian, they get a lot of backlinks from bookmarking sites. And please don't worry there is no penalty for submitting non-English sites to English bookmarks. Just do it
I don't think google ever penalize people who doesn't have an English site. I know some of friends go to regional and do the bookmarking there. Maybe you can try that.
