Making your website show up on search results can be a herculean task. Millions of articles on the internet get lost in vastness of the cyberspace. Search engines either do not see them or find it hard to read them. Worse still, search engines see them but find them irrelevant to search queries because of the way they are written.

Little wonder, many website owners get totally frustrated when their wonderful articles fail to appear on search engines result or appear on the 5th page or more.

Whether your website is for business (where you make money) or you own a corporate website, SEO (Search engine optimization) is a must to increase your website traffic.

Now, most of us hear that "Content is king in SEO (search engine optimization)".
Yes, content is king, but how?

First, there is a striking fact (that makes this the voodoo) that majority of online surfers prefer to use search engines to get information on the internet.

But, how do search engines find which pages to display?

They scan through your webpage content. That’s the simple reason why many webmasters use the expression “content is king in SEO”.

Moreover, this clause “content is king in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)” is deeper than most of us understand.

It’s not hard to accept the fact that search engines actually focus on optimizing the relevance of search results for their users. They use the content of WebPages to determine their relevance – which WebPages to display and which search query should trigger these pages.

However, they use some form of algorithm which is rather artificial than natural. At the heart of this algorithm is the ‘keyword relevance’ of your article or write-up. Specialized crawlers called spiders scan through the billions of internet contents and determine the relevant pages. These spiders -not humans- scan your site or webpage for clues relevant to search queries.

This is the dilemma of online writing. These spiders cannot know how wonderful your article is. Google or yahoo crawlers do not understand that your article is a product of passionate research and can instantly answer the questions of many online surfers. They are interested in your article content- keyword relevance, keyword placement and keyword density.

These keywords in simple terms are just the words or short phrases you use in titles, tags and content. They help spiders (search engine spiders) easily identify what your article is about.

Take care of these 3 strategic online writing fundamental principles and begin to experience magical traffic from search engines.
