I suggest you try email marketing. I effectively got my site around 100k hits a day just through email marketing. Very little work needed and I only invested around $100 for the traffic. If your list is targeted, like my list, you will be making thousands from CPA/Amazon affiliate offers.
Do social networking of your site, increase the backlinks and optimize your site for some good keywords
Buying $100 traffic is only worth it if you are confident that your site will convert enough to make a return of greater then $100, in that case you should go for it. If not then you are best to use articles, they improve SEO and will get you ranked higher!
From my understanding, most of those paid traffic services are garbage unless they're promoting your site in legitimate ways so unless you're sure that it's legit I'd probably stick to buying quality articles for better results even though you might not see results right away.
Do some basic SEO and SMM. You should get articles if those are the only 2 options you are considering, these articles will help you build links to your new site.
