How to start a wordpress blog in a .com domain?

    Hi dear friends,

I'm planning to start a blog. But I don't know anything about domain registration, hosting etc.
In many websites I read the same sentence - 'you should buy a .com domain first, install wordpress in itand start blogging'.

But how to do this? In this should I find a hosting provider. Or can just install wordpress after buying a .com domain for around $9

    All I need is a blog/site which look/works like this www.amitbhawani.com/blog/.

Yes, I know I'm asking some foolish questions. I'm a beginner. Hope you will take it in that way and help me

    Thanks in advance

For that you need to buy a .com domain as well as hosting for that.

Usually if you buy a domain and webhost, there is fantastico deluxe icon in cPanel, install wordpress with it, it's easy and quick, If you don't know how, do some google research. Be careful with people around here, there are scammers around. But also nice people, just extra be careful.

I recommend Dreamhost for 8.95$ month plus domain registration. Their admin panel is very easy and if you run into trouble they have a very nice online chat. Everything is quite straight forward. Just sign up, register your domain with them and after you've paid up your domain add your hosting plan to the domain. Once this is done go to One-click installs and choose Wordpress.

I recommend VirtualATMS.com They do all for your and they have killer designs as well automated blogs.

I have about 27 niche blogs running all in autopilot.

Give it a shoot, its a huge relieve when you delegate tasks

    I have some recommendations

1] Domain registration - Namecheap.com using june coupon "summertime"
2] Hosting - Start with free hosting and only buy paid hosting when you learn the basics.
    Try freehostia.com http://freehostia.com/free-chocolate.html
It has an elefante installer (Like Fantastico in Cpanel) than can allow you to similarly install wordpress. Try experimenting with various things after you register and get your hosting. Best way to learn things.

Thanks for the info…but…what if I have my own website but don’t want my own install of wordpress? I just started a blog at wordpress.COM and would like to continue using that but still have the visitors to my website be able to see the wordpress.COM blog as is, within a page in my site.

Wordpress is VERY simple to get started with.

Here's my simple and brief guide:

1 - Buy a domain name. godaddy is easy, cheap and reliable. Google godaddy coupons and you can usually find a discount.

2 - Buy hosting. This can also be done thorugh godaddy as you purchase your domains. Not everyone likes godaddy however. I use webhostingpad myself and I'm sure hundreds of others will tell you hundreds of other great/terrible webhosts. HINT: Make sure your webhost offers cpanel with Fantastico installed. It lets you install wordpress with 2 clicks and no programming knowledge.

3 - Download a free wordpress theme. You can do this from within your wp-admin panel --> Login to your wp-admin panel --> appearance --> themes add new (up top) --> enter keywords or choose colours --> choose the one you want --> click install --> hey presto, your new theme is installed!!

    4 - Start blogging!

hope this helps...If you have any more questions reply to this forum post and I'll try and help further

Sorry I forgot to mention install wordpress :) These steps go between 2 and 3 above...

log into your cpanel account. in your browser goto yourdomain.com/cpanel --> login --> scroll down to "software/services" --> click on fantastico --> click wordpress from left side menu --> new installation --> enter installation details --> click install

    Hope this helps
