The Power of Article Marketing

Article Marketing has been around for some time. Even before the Internet boom! Articles about products, about activities which get people interested in products have always found a place in magazines and newspapers. Recently Article marketing has started going hand in hand with Search Engine Optimization. Articles are being written and pointed to pages of interest to the writer. The articles have content which complements the page being pointed to. This leads to a better “Page Rank” of the page in question.

The question is, IS article Marketing worth the effort? I believe there is no clear cut answer to this. This really depends upon the quality of the article. But one thing is for sure, you WILL get a whole lot of traffic. Is your article convincing and informative enough is left to you. Here are a few PROS and CONS of article marketing.

    PROS:

•Article Marketing generates targeted traffic. The readers of our article will ONLY visit your site if they’re interested in it and like your article.
•Article Marketing generates good backlinks! This one’s a no brainer. More links = improved SERPS.
•Article marketing sites have a lot of in site traffic. This is true, most article marketing sites have their own SEO-ed ways of getting good traffic to THEIR sites, which opens new doors to traffic when they read your articles.
•Articles written in article directories can get published! Both on paper and electronically. This can really improve your exposure!

    CONS:

•Writing quality articles takes time and effort. Sometimes the same amount of effort can be spent working on your own site instead of on an article site.
•Posting to many article directories is manual “boilerplate” work. You may need to invest in article submission software (which do not always work) , or hire people to post.
•SOME article sites have the habit of rejecting your articles for no apparent reason!

Those are the ones I could come up with! Please add any new ones you can come up with!

I use quite a lot of article marketing and make nice profit with it. The best part is it's free. :D

It's nowhere near being free since everyone spends their time (which is money) but overall article marketing is one of the easiest ways for noobs to get the ball rolling and start seeing some sales/

If you look at it that way, then nothing is free, I guess. Sleeping takes time, and yet I think it's free. :) To me, article marketing is free, as it's an advertising method, that doesn't cost anything.

Unfortunately, Article Marketing has been made a little harder as many article directories are saturated with poorly written article. If you want success in this field then you really have to write some great stuff.

Traditional article marketing is a dying game now... Its well established now that getting a ton of backlinks from one site does not really add to the worth of your website. And as far as traffic from the article directory itself, I have not had much success except negligible traffic from ezinearticles and articlesbase.

Manually submitting to hundreds of article directories is not worth. Of course, if you are automating it, it might hold some value....

Better is to use services which allow automated article distribution to directories and blogs backlinking to your site...

If you cannot be bothered to write your own articles - outsource them. There are plenty of people in the Buy Sell & Trade section of this forum for example who will write unique article content for you. If you first submit to EzineArticles.com wait for your article to be accepted then submit using iSnare.com to all the other article directories that saves loads of time.

I have used article marketing but prefer ppc as it brings instant traffic and doesn't invlove spending hours labouring away each day writing articles - too much like a J.O.B. If you can master creating and testing ads (reasonably simple when you try) you will find you can pick up traffic for pennies a click, no joke. I much rather spend time building new sites (which does involve content that can be outsourced) and looking to monitize them and letting paid traffic bring the rewards.

Well yea.. PPC is instant but short term unless you can sustain the costs.. Nice idea though... Think i'll do a comparison of PPC vs article marketing!

Yeah as stated above, for PPC you need to be linking to something that is making enough of a return in order to sustain the costs of advertising. This has to be constant or else you will find your income streams quickly drying up. The point of article (or aptly named "bum" marketing) is that it is free.

If you find a good site that spins articles for you then you can turn one article into a large amount of unique traffic.

Article marketing is becoming out dated now :p little late for an article like this (would've been good 3 years ago!).

    Thanks for sharing though. Cheers.
