Hiring a freelancer

I need to hire a freelancer to clone a website for me and one freelancer is claiming to have built the exact website that I need to clone. How can I get him to prove to me that he built the website? I don't think I believe him....

Ask him if he got the job through a freelance website, you might be able to find the details and client feedback.
If he is a serious freelancer, he should have accounts with several freelance websites.

You may also want to consider asking him technical details about the project. Specifically how long did it take, what is the current URL, what is the clients information so you can contact them for reference on the material, etc.

The simplest and most conclusive way is to compare the markup of each.

I interview potential web designers all the time, and the way I know if they really can do what they say they can do is to ask them very specific and technical questions. If they can't answer them very well, you'll know very quickly.

Why the hell to ask a freelancer to show me his traffic from Google Analytics?

Freelancer is not a media website ..

Seriously that you say was really stupid.
