Because of too much trouble with the mod rewrite of phpld (google was permanently crawling categories, which doesn´t exist) i decided to switch to a script which is using static pages. Unfortunately all of your links could not be imported, so please resubmit them. Sorry about that, but i think its better to switch now than later.

Yes sure. Go to a phpld directory of your choice, go to a topcategory eg. business. Then type in your browser after the business/xzy/ - this category for sure not exists, but the mod rewrite will lead you back to the mainpage and now look into the category structure. You will find eg. business/xyz/business or business/xyz/recreation, etc. I don´t know why, but google was crawling all those non existing categories. That was the main reason for me to change.

Well i like your new directory , nice colors.
I had the same problem you had with mod_rewrite, to some scripts this kind of errors can`t be fixed, so it is better to use a static page directory if you search for a high PR on each page.

Why would google crawl non-existing categories? Perhaps because you have been updating the category structure?

It's a flaw with phpld. I'm raving mad about the issue and completely understand. You want to get deindexed install phpld 2.0 and move a subcategory or main category and kiss your ass goodbye with search engines.

Sympathies, and best of luck with your directory.

Yes i moved 2 categories and i think that was the mistake. But the real problem is that the script is not returning a 404 error for non existing pages, but it leads you to the main page with lots of nonsense in the category structure. But ok, its a free script and i think they will resolve the problem soon.

Anyway, with the new script all spiders get a correct 404 error and i hope in a few days they will stop crawling the non existing categories.

Its only a mess for the 500 links from the dp members, which i got in the first week.

Thanks to all for resubmissions, i will approve them as soon as possible.

Thanks for the heads up on the mod_rewrite problem with PHPLD. That should be easily fixed.

In the meantime, I submitted a couple of worthy sites. Well, I think they're worthy anyway :)

It seems there is already a mod out there that addresses this problem.

This is refering to phpld 3.0 which doesn't fix it as in static pages but sends out 404s so eventually it will work itself out. But still shows your site pointing to a myriad of bs until it works itself out ie, google drops 404 pages.

As far as 2.0 you can rewrite your htaccess for cats but not subcats thru a paid mod here

    http://www.monster-submit.com/fmain.shtml?http://www.monster-submit.com/phpld/

Subcats are still vulnerable even after this however.

Sorry, didn't mean to get this thread OT, directory looks good, and I really sympathize with the situation.
