Spend money on advertising or SEO?

Hmm, though choice here. Most of my efforts are focusing on one keyword for my website. It has about 50 million results and i rank about 30 with my pr 2 site. I want to be on the first serp page. Either I can spend my money on google adwords and buy an ad on the side or I can spend my money on link building/seo services to help get into the first serp page.

What should I do?

 

If you have enough budget to spend I would recommend you doing both, PPC for short term and SEO for long term. You cannot rely only one of them if you are doing business, a real business. SEO cannot be a guaranteed for your long lasting position while PPC cost does always higher and higher every single day passed.

 

I'd suggest that you do SEO for it since the costs are much lower compared to PPC advertising.

 

I think If you get business from PPC advertising it is short time only, but if you done seo then get business continue to long time.

 

I will suggest you to do SEO of your site, as SEO will gie you long term profit, where PPC will give you benifit as long as you run it.

 

If you have the budget, do both. PPC will get you immediate results but SEO will bring you long term results. If you are well versed in PPC. start a campaign and build your list as well. That way your list becomes another source of income.

 

Take the time and effort to learn SEO...and keep up with the changes.....
Once you learn, it will help with everything your write.....and your can work your site as the chances take place....

Im going to focus on SEO. The peak season for my business doesn't start till January or so.

 

If your goal is for long term, then SEO is better option. But if you want fast results, then go for PPC.

 

Although it'll take time but SEO is the way to go by. You can do it yourself or outsource the work either here on DP or at some other freelance sites but it'll pay off in the end.

 

SEO is good but sorry to say that's no "guarantee result" in SERP.
In this case, i would always take partial out from my budget and test on both adwords and SEO. After compare the result, i will invest the rest of my budget on the one which giving me better result

 

If you want your keywords on First SERP then you have to choose Google Adword(PPC).
It is the best among all things for geeting fast result.

Adwords can't help you to get top ranking but traffic. You can get instant traffic thru PPC.

 

If you need First result serp, then you will only need to spend money on linkbuilding as this is the most effective to rank high. If you use adword or any advertising network then you could only get traffic, no result in Serp at all

Don't use websites like digg to promote your website. Yes you will get hight direct traffic but that DO NOT HELP YOUR SEO . I have lot of clients that befor they come to me. They spam sites like Digg and at the end of the day their websites are not #1 EVEN on searching for domain.com. If you are searching for your domain name and your site is not #1 then your SEO fails because of that.

You should look at the PTC like " ONE DAY OFFER" since one good SEO optimization will give you more traffic with lower cost at the end of the day.

I would do both but focus more on SEO. Use PPC to find out what keywords are converting to focus on those for you SEO efforts until January you have a nice window.

 

SEO/Organic traffic is king when selling on your website if you ever choose to do so. People can PPC anything they like - on any website (more or less) they want, but organic traffic cannot be had just by snapping the fingers. Most people who buy websites placed alot of importance on organic traffic.....

 

You need to do both. But seo will take awhile so your first focus should be on direct advertising ppc isn't the only way there are allot of other ways to get traffic for your advertising dollars like e-zines

then after you get a few followers continue your seo patterns of link building and such
