    Can anyone tell me abt the importance of submitting my site to different directories.What are the processes done in it?How submission can help me to increase traffic? I submitted my sites to certain directories but they doesnt seem to increase my traffic.

    It won't directly increase your traffic but it will rise your search engine position and then search engines will bring you more traffic

    Submitting to directories (well, the right directories) will increase traffic. Directory listings provide you with links. If people visit the directories that you submit your site to then you will get some natural link traffic. Then, if the search engines see that others sites (in this case directories) are pointing to your site, they will place a higher value on your site as it has "earned" more citations. I would take great care in crafting descriptions which are both informative and compelling and making sure that the directories are worth submitting your site to.

    I agree - the more relevant to your site the directory is that you submit to the better it will be for both natural traffic and search traffic, the less relevant obviously the less value they would provide.

    Make sure your link is in the correct category. The category should be related to your site's topic.

    Also, make sure it doesn't end up in a long list.. spiders might consider it as a linkfarm.

    Find quality directories, with good PR, and as less outgoing links / page as possible.
