I just started an online pet store. Now that website is about ready, I am looking for ideas on how to market my online store with limited budget? I have a budget of $200 for my marketing. How can I get the biggest bang for my money?

you can do some bum marketing! It's free and basically anybody can do it. Just start writing some articles for ezine articles, submit your articles to them once you've signed up with them, and at the end of your articles make a link back to your website so anybody who reads your articles will click back to your home page.

Check out this site for more details on how to become a "bum marketer" http://www.bummarketingmethod.com/.

Make 5 articles a day and you will start getting some good free traffic back to your site. Good luck!

Good advice Le Dangles. The challenge for me is writing bunch of articles about dogs and cats! Maybe I should look for some paid services that provide low cost articles?

I would buy some articles and then use a program like seolink ( in sig if interested ) which submits your articles for you. You will come in easy under budget and you will be constantly building your backlinks which is how your site will march up the serps.

Yeah you can purchase articles here on digital point! I guess the set back of writing your own articles is that takes time to come up with articles but nothing is totally free.

Article marketing is good and cheap way.
another way is email marketing, for beginning send some with your own email.
another way again is promoting on forum or blog.

Many marketeers don't recommend email marketing due to spam filters and other limiting factors. Do you have experience with effectively using email marketing?

I am an Email Marketing Consultant. Email Marketing is a must for any online business these days. It is the most inexpensive way of advertising and selling your products or services. I don't know why somebody would not recommend email marketing unless you want to spam people or rent/purchase a list. There are no limiting factors if you have a list of opt-in subscribers.
For a new marketer like yourself, I highly recommend InfusionSoft. It offers an all in one solution including off-line marketing like sending letters, fax, voice and sms broadcasts. Try to increase your budget by another $100 and spend $300 a month for their second best package. They offer a fully automated system and have proven techniques to double your sales. There's loads of stuff you could do, but I'd suggest doing some display ads on the Google Adwords content network. You can run adverts featuring your product images and offer details - then send them straight through to the landing page :) Alternatively try a straight out PPC campaign on Google Adwords - that way you'll get a feel for which keywords work for you before you invest in an SEO campaign. Hope that helps

AidyUK has forgot to mention that it will cost you arm and leg with Adwords, as everybody else is doing exactly the same - bidding adwords keywords to the sky limit :(
But if you go with Adwords, then I have a $75 adwords card that I am not going to use that I can sell you for $15 (with you additional $10 to activate you going get $85 in your adwords account for $25 only)

Is there a specific tool that you think will be best to start with or you're talking about combination of all that will bring in the results?

Using free tools will take you a while to get the results. The free tools are: article marketing, posting classified ads on craigslist etc., participating in online forums about pets, creating backlinks (check a similar website that shows up at the top for your major keyword and check where their backlinks are and then use the same resources to create yours). can't think of anything else.
Google adwords can be very expensive. If you don't spend money, then you will have to spend a few hours daily promoting your website.
