Hi so if someone posted a thread (WTB sites) and i sent him a PM offering my site would this considered Spaming??? one member here posted that he wants to buy file hosting sites, so i contacted him wwith PM offering my site, he replied to me (reported you for spamming me) so replying to his thread would be unacceptable because i'd be spaming the thread, and if i contact him by PM i'd be spaming too? P.S let this thread be a record in case i got an infection for spamming PMs!
It's unlikely you will get an infection but an infraction is well possible lol back to what you were saying; Did the wtb thread ask for people to pm or to reply in the thread, maybe your best approach should have been a post in the thread say something like " I have a site for x money if you are interested, details are blah blah blah URL available via pm only" this would also enable feedback via itrader on the sale/purchase as well (if actually sold of course)
lol yeah it's infraction i don't know why i wrote infection loool anyway believe it or not, i got around 7 infractions in the past for posting such things! well, he already spammed my PM so i see no harm in displaying his name this is his thread : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1818662 he clearly said in his thread (PM me) so i Pmed him this: then he reported me as SPAM and told me that he did so!
For a start, if you were to write the example I gave replacing "blah blah blah" with some actual substance for example, alexa ranking, visits, SERPS etc that will not get you infracted i'm sure. However writing things like "pm me", "pm sent", "I'm interested" etc... Will lure an infraction. In terms of reporting to you for spamming and how that will get dealt with is best addresed by a mod.
We get a lot of reports of pm spam that are simply someone taking a punt and offering something slightly different from what was requested. My advice to anyone sending a private message in response to a thread is to include a link back to the thread. In this instance you would say "I have a site that I believe fits your criteria because..." That clearly shows why you are sending the private message and that its not spam. It may not be what he wants, but its not spam.
You should have placed a reference link to that thread in BST in your PM. That way you are making the PM legitimate even if you are failing to fulfill the criteria.

I very much doubt it, but you will have to wait and see. Even if you do, 1 point aint gonna hurt you, no one can see it but you anyway.

This would be breaking the forums rules since it is forbiden to post just comments you have to PM him ,but on the other hand that might be considered PM spamming... Beh those rules are blurry on some things...
I would say thats the main thing. However you still can't say "I've seen your thread looking for an article writer, want to buy my site".
