    It goes wothout saying that it's vitally important to know where your website ranks for particular keywords in search results.
    There are a lot of SEO tools for rankings check out there.
    BUT is there any point to spend money on the software that does the task, which can easily be done manually?

    If you have a personal blog its not worth it, but if you are running hundreds of websites you would be an idiot to check manually.

    The great thing about these ranking tools is that you get a quick overview in one report on all your keywords, as well as the move in ranking whether up or down for each. It saves you alot of time.

    Well... I'm not running hundreds of sites, just a couple... and I'm wondering whether rank checking software is really worth buying...
    A friend of mine uses some SEO tools for checking his sites ranks and he says they are really a helping hand in SEO.
    These tools save time, help you quicklier proceed the data and compare the results of your optimization progress overtime. I guess that can make considerable contribution to your on-line success...
    So another question: WHAT is the most effective (and preferably not expensive) SEO tools for rankings check?

    @danmares - do you have a URL?

    and my input on the topic, I do SEO for alot of my own sites and a few client sites if I was to try and get the ranks for all these manually all I would do is check ranks! so as others have said really if you are doing it for only one site then no its not worht the cost but once you get to probably 5 site (depending on how much you value your time) then it may be worth the purchase. Just my opinion :)

    We cant manually check ranking if your site is not listed within first few pages. If you have large number of keywords, checking rank manually is a time consuming process. Most SEO experts are busy. So they need tools to check rank to save time.

    Well, leaving a long path of trail and error of testing different ranking checkers behind, I can say that Rank Tracker is the ultimate champion, who passed all the tests I gave to it.
    I've downloaded its free version and can say that 100% satisfied with the way it works. It provides laser-precise data about the current rank of my site and also has lots of other features on board (e.g. keyword suggest tool, reporting facilities and dozens more).

    Yes email marketing is ALSO very effective.

    I strongly believe in driving traffic via many different sources.

    I cant agree that SEO sucks. Without doubt some (or alot of) people suck at SEO but thats a whole different statment.

    There are many other ways to drive traffic too and none of them should be overlooked, but the question in this thread was - is there any point spending money on software to do a job that can easily be done manually... so back on topic and as Ive already said... it depends on your situation but on the most part I would say it is.
