About ten years ago I bought the domain budgetmoney.com. I used it to promote a book I had written. I had success with it for a few years but the book has since become outdated. Once the book became outdated I stopped pushing the site. Lately, I've been thinking what I could do with the site. I believe the domain has value. Now, the question is what direction I should take it? I've always wanted to use it as a source of content for the visitor. Something I could be proud of as well as generating money. The questions I ask myself are: 1) Do I really have the time to devote the time needed to deliver fresh content? 2) How to keep up with the vastly changed way of internet marketing from what I was used to? My other option would be to just use it as a coupon type site or a link site to daily deals. I would appreciate any feedback you may have.
doesn't hurt to see what a sedo listing or any other domain broker's offer would be. coupon sites and daily deals are popular but more and more people are doing them... at the same time, more and more affiliates are blocking them. what about information on how to actually live on a budget? maybe in a blog format. just say what you're doing or what the money guys on the radio suggest to save a few bucks.
Make it an blog about money. Or you can sell various ebook, write it regularly. If you are experienced writing an ebook in the past, why don't you write again? You have felt how it become money, didn't you? good luck
second for that..since you have succeeded in selling your ebook why not continue with some UPDATED money making ebook?
I agree with the others here that you should make it into an info site about ways to save money, and maybe add something about investing money wisely, i.e., if they should keep it in the bank and if they keep it in the bank, what type of account would be most beneficial, etc. Or if they should invest it in something, what type type of investments to make, things like that.
Wait a minute...I just checked the domain and it has no PR and not ranked in Alexa. Not ranked in Alexa? A 10 year old domain not ranked in Alexa? A friend can buy a domain and put nothing in it just a welcome page and get rank by Alexa in a couple of days or so. Can anyone explain to me how come a 10 yr old really nice domain name not ranked by Alexa?
Best way is to build a blog about finance related content.you don't have to spend lot of time in writing, there are article writers you can hire in dp forum.people sell copy scape passed contents for 500 words=$4.i think you earn good money if you use adsense.
In answer to your questions: Question: Do I really have the time to devote the time needed to deliver fresh content? My Answer: That is a pretty hard question to answer. It sounds like at some point you had a strong passion for budgeting finances, well enough to invest the time to write content for a book and develop a website. Is this still a passion for you or has it faded away a little? Try to figure out how strong your passion is now. Does it have the momentum to really give everything the focus and commitment needed? I know there is a fine line between focusing on passion for a project and just going through the motions to "try" and make it work. You could always tie in some industry related RSS feeds, but I think most people would shy away from visiting your site again. That would be the easiest way to add content and then throw in some affiliate links. Just remember the golden rule, that you usually get out what you put into it. It is just human nature for visitors to pick up on how connected you are to them. Question: How to keep up with the vastly changed way of internet marketing from what I was used to? Answer: Hmmmm...It sounds like you have been away from the IM world for a bit and perhaps your getting back in the groove. It really shouldn't take that much o get back in the swing of things again. Sure the tactics, tech and strategies have changed....but then again, they really never stop evolving- you just gotta get back in the saddle again. Just remember the core of online or offline marketing is delivering a message to your core audience to build your brand (trust, relationship) to ultimately offer a product or service that will help your audience. You sound like you have a few pretty good ideas what to do already, but perhaps you could point the domain to a fresh, new wordpress blog or install a joomla template and offer some affiliate products if you don't want to create an updated ebook. I searched on google and found this free joomla template called bizniz aqua http://tinyurl.com/264eknj Since there are lots of free new templates being offered for WP or Joomla, I can't see paying for one...but thats only my opinion. I hope this helped and best wishes!
As the domain suggest budgetmoney.com you can provide content related to investments and also use affiliate programs on your site related to investment, finance or business. Route your traffic to the affiliate partners and monetize your site for your betterment.
I think I like the idea of blogging. Two questions. It seems Wordpress is a popular platform. Anybody have thoughts on it? I also bought budgetmoneyblog.com a few years ago just in case. Even though I didn't know anything about blogging then. Would you use that as the blogging site or blog on the main site? If I used the blog site for blogging then I could always link to the main site where I could have content. I really do appreciate the feedback I've gotten so far. Sometimes you can't see the trees for the forest and it helps to hear input from others. NO_BS_Marketing nailed it as far as "passion". I lost my passion because I lacked direction.
