In my opinion, Google takes a picture of each page, examines and caches (stores) that version as a back-up in the Database. The cached version is what Google makes use of to judge if a page is a good match for a searched query. Google index refers to getting website listed in the google's database index for SERPs.

cache is depend on index. first crawler index the urls in their database, then cache the content of the page. whenever you change any content on the page, crawler again cache the page because page has been already indexed.

Indexing means to give an ID to each word/Keyword in your page, search engines stores these indexes (IDs) in a server(s), while the results will come from another server.
Caching has nothing to do with results, it's just a service for users to show how the search engines saw that page

Indexing is a logarithm that saves your pages in an index "Your text only" "Not human friendly" it's just compressed somehow to save Google time and money and usually run 1000 machines for only 1 search query so it will take only seconds.
Cache is a cached copy of page content on an archive that also have the page html elements.

Simply you can say that cache is a type of command which tells you that your page is indexed in Google or not.

In simple terms, index is the first time crawler comes to your site and it is called your site or webpage has been indexed by Google.
A Cache gives you the details such as time, date and what things the crawler has seen on your website. This happens every time a crawler comes to the site or page.

This is very difficult question many people are confused abut it. Indexing is a logarithm that saves website pages in an index. Cache is a cached copy of page content on an archive that also have the page html elements.
