I own a australian .com.au domain name and the site is targeted for australians only. When doing SEO like link building, kewords, on and off page optimisation should i just be focusing on australian sites to build links with. Really I mean should I only try and gain one way links from australian sites or australian related sites or does this not matter to much?
I have a friend who is a seogeek and he told me once that whenever you promote your blog or website and there are a lot of competitors like that of gadgets then it is better to campaign your site locally than competing a lot of top websites. You still can earn and even more.
You are doing fine but it is always a good chance for your if you are getting a quality + relevant + high PR backlinks for your website; whether the link is not from a regional site; but from a relevant site. Your ranking would not be effected in regional SERPs, yet you might receive added traffic from global search which might also convert into sales. Good luck,
You will get found in local search results (ie. Google Australia) because of the domain extension. It's not necessary to limit your links to australian websites, all links will help.
ok so sounds like the more lnks the better? more relevant + quality + high PR from anywhere, as long as its relevant. I think i will focus on more Aussie sites but get them from everywhere as well.
Yes If you want local users then your strategy is good but if you need users all over world then you need to think on getting links from all over world
I'm convinced that these who directions of SEO - local and global - do not prevent each other from achieving perfect SEO results. I think that your goal is worth implementation - it won't damage anything, and of course, will affect your SEO results positively. I prefer to go by the following statement - "Think global -act local".
IF you really targeting particular region, you need to take part in that region related forums, blog and article.
If you target only for australian site, Better you need to concentrate on back links from australian related sites. This will boost your ranking
your rank will increase rapidly in Australia if you target Australia website to link but also will improve rank in other region
From Google's perspective relevancy is taking everything into account, so yes, you will get better results if you promote your site on relevant local sites, than just on relevant "global" sites.
thanks heaps for all your thoughts and opinions they all make sence. This is an australian dating site so i only really want locals on it I think if i target australian links it will kind of weed out useless traffic if I go global. But I wasnt sure how my rankings would go if i only went after au links. There is no use building links global for the traffic if its no use to me so I think maybe best to stay local, do a global link here and there. No doubt I will get global links when other sites/blogs n such link to it on their own.
Where you focus - in Australia or Global? If you want business from other countries too then backlinks from .au are not enough.
for the very quality work, you must have to do some local based research that will give you positive result.
You must not limit it to local links only. If you get quality links from anywhere else, you must consider it and add your website in google local business center.
Very simple build quality and relevant high pr inbound links from your targeted areas. All the best! Alex
