Hello, I just want to know how should I write the domain when I need to check out the page rank? Should I put www or without it?? what is the difference? Cheers!
I think you should have the same results for both if the redirection from yourdomain.com to -www.yourdomain.com is all right.
depends some sites don't use 301 redirects so www and no www have diferent PR , Example DMOZ without the www is PR0
You need to decide which one you prefer, and then re-direct the other one to it. Otherwise you run the risk of Google's canonical problems, and possibly duplicate content trouble. Unless there's a pproper 301 redirect in place the SEs will see the two as distinct websites, not as one.
Because Google sees your www, and non-www URLs as being separate websites – ie, two different websites with the same content. You need to put redirects into your .htaccess file in order to redirect all traffic from one of the versions to the other. Doesn't matter which one. Alternatively, if you're using Google Sitemaps you can instruct Google as to which domain name you prefer via the Sitemaps control panel. The other SE's don't seem to have this problem, so if you're not up to the task of making redirects you might be best using Google Sitemaps.
Most sites auto redirect to www but on rare occasions, I have been to sites that do not display unless typing in www
Make sure that when you log in to your Google Sitemap account you tell them which domain you prefer, www. or without www.
