There are a number of tools, I stick with Google Adwords free tool because it gives a lot of data direct from the search engine.

You can of course perform your own keyword research but often it is easier & more time (and cost) effective to outsource it to a professional.

The phrases you think your target market might be searching for may very well be incorrect. To find the optimal phrases to optimize, use research tools such as KeywordDiscovery, Wordtracker, Google AdWords, and Yahoo Search Marketing data. Try to figureout lists of the most relevant phrases for your site, and choose a few different ones for every page.

1.) First of all think why are you in this market, means the main focus of your website, your targeted market and visitors.
2.) Choose the appropriate targeted keywords relate with the business of your site.
3.) you can take help of various keyword suggestion tools, that will show you also the competitions of your keywords in the market.
4.) For a new website, first go for some less competitive keywords or low phrases keywords. But don't take very less competitive, coz if you are going for that than a very less chance you are left behind to move more visitors on your site. You have to face some competition also.
Work for your selected targeted keywords, making a off-page support for that to move them higher in the search engines like as SMM or SMO - the best and smart work for your website.

I am sure you will get your desired results and would make your dream true.

Whenever choosing keywords, always keep 3 points in your mind:

    1. They have strong relevancy to your site. Means your content should be very supportive to them.
    2. They have relatively high search volume. Means keywords that people are actually looking for.
    3. They have relatively low competition. Means keywords that have little bit small number of search results.

For analyzing search volume of keywords, you can use keyword research tools of Google Adwords and Wordtracker.

Dear Fahed, it's true to make a strong relevancy to your site as using the keyword density in your content for your targeted keywords using the LSI technique.

But if we would choose the high competitive keywords with a huge search volume for a new website than it would be very difficult to make visible that with a short period of time in the search engines.

In 3rd point as you are saying relatively low competition means using the low phrases keywords, but it's not possible to see high search volume on that keywords. Both are apart, when you would check the real competition on the keywords in Google with a command than your would see that high search volume and less competition can not walk together. You can check a keyword showing high search volume but in reality after checking that is not in actually, it's coming just by phrases only.

Well as per my suggestions, first go to google adwords keyword research tool then type your relevant keyword related to your niche in the box, then loo for those keywords who are more related to niche. I mean just narrow down your niche, pick one keyword from results and search it in the box you will find more narrower desire results, then off course select that one which have less competition and more demand. Thats it
