    Hello friends,
I have one questions regarding directory posting.

If you can see that most of the good PR directory sites are paid if you choose free posting option then your site never list in the directory site database. After long research i am thinking to go for paid directory submission.what you people think does paid listing really help to increase the site reputation in Google? how these paid directory site helps to increase the sales if your site is selling something? how much money i have to spend on paid directory sites?

for the most part, paid directories have a lot less spam and higher quality submissions - you can spend from $5 - thousands

If the directories are of quality and would help your web site gain good traffic and quality back links, then yes you can spend for getting your web site link listed in them.

NO never do that directories only hurt. I did an experiment to be sure of it . I paid into 5 directory sites that had a high page rank it ended up lowering my serps.

Well, either you are trolling (I do believe you are) or you just missing the point.

There are dozens of FREE quality directories with high PR that offer inclusion but if you're one of those
who wants to get in them overnight, then I have bad news for you, that's ain't going to happen and
you better get in a line and wait if you want FREE quality backlink.

If you want to be listed quickly, then every free directory is offering paid Express Inclusion
If you already submitted your site to every free directory you could find, then yes, go after paid
and pay $100+ for one backlink.

Submitting to crappy, dead on arrival directories and paying $5 or even $2 is simply not worth it.

But you are already know that, aren't you?

    :)

Thats purely up to you and whether you have the money to spend on directories, to be fair you need to think about this yourself, i own paid directories and of course it would be easy for me to say yes but money is usually an issue too so its not a simple matter of yes or no.

I think that directories are an useful way to go when you have a niche site. There's a lot of good specialised directories, the narrower they cover the best they are in my opinion.

A single paid listing in ANY directory will do NOTHING AT ALL - by itself. What you need to recognize is that your "reputation" or ranking rather in any given SE will be dependent on a multitude of factors. Its the culmination of a wide range of targeted relevant linking, directory listings, good metas, manual listing with SE's, good SEO of your site, alt tags, descriptive keyword links, again, relevant to your content, etc.

In the end, YES spending money for quality directory listings is still has viable as it every was. However, its just ONE part of a larger picture in terms of the overall promotional and advertising experience when it comes to getting your site ranked and noticed.

If you're thinking about paying for links make sure you start with directories in your niche. One thing I like to do is make sure the page where I'll be listed gets some search engine traffic. That way you know Google likes the directory and you have a better chance that it will help your serps.

And remember there are other SE's besides google. Make sure you make that consideration when choosing as well. You can get just as much traffic from other SE's, or a combination of all. In the end, you stand to benefit more by having that love shared equally.

Most, almost 99.99% free directories are full of crap, spammy sites. It would be better to go for paid directories.

So, it seems, you dont agree with the fact that 99.99% free directories are full of crap, spammy sites. OK, show me atleast 10 FREE (among 5/6 thousands free dirs) directories with quality listings, no spam, no crap. Can you?

How much I have spent that's not relevant to the topic of the thread. You have more than 1000 posts, I haven't expected this from an experienced member like you.

I really think that PR is pretty low on the list of things people should be concerned with any more. It's really a buzz / hype that's long since died down. What you should be looking for is a well categorized and organized directory, niche' and general that is well indexed in a wide range of SE's. Many of the more successful directories concentrate on quality content, organization and freshness (no dead sites or links). This is vastly more important than volume, alexa, pr or other "hyped" stuff which is purely fluff for marketing. People eat that up.

You find someone that has a well indexed, very organized, CLEAN and fresh directory and you're going to get indexed yourself. More importantly you will get TRAFFIC.

You have to ask yourself, what are you looking for? PR, or actual visitors? you can have all the PR in the world. It does not guarantee rank, presence or traffic. It is what it is...

    YMMV.

It's a link, no more no less, it won't shoot you to page 1 overnight, what it will do is help create a good link base for your site, do some research on finding quality paid directories, there are plenty of threads about it in this forum. As far as a link in a directory helping to increase sales, well if you list in niche directories, predominently the traffic from a niche will be pre-sold and may help to get a site a sale, but at the end of the day it's up to the site not the directory to convert a visitor into a sale.
