I think your computer is infected with viruses and spywares, installing an antivirus software is highly recommended in this case.

Definitely do msconfig, makes startup time reduced by half. You could always consider switching to open source, never had a problem in my life. ;)

viruses are the main cause of computers slowing down that is if you have enough harddisk space and memory.

    Hi
You need to clean your system. Try running your utilities such as disk clean and defrag. The run an antispyware program such as spybot search and destroy.
Its free. Install it. Update it.. then run it. If you do all this... you should see a world of difference. You can download spybot for free from download.com
just do a search for it. Also make sure your hard drive is'nt full. If its almost full you need to delete some old stuff thats taking up too much space.
    Hope this helps you.

Use a great tool called CCleaner, search it in google, allows you to fix errors in your registry and clear up all the 'rubbish' in your computer. Works great for me

    --------

Update - Sorry didn't know it was already recommended.

if your computer is slower than usual,
try to format and reinstall your OS
or upgrade your hardware eg cpu and get new RAM sticks

If all tools doesn't help. Formatting is the way to go.

Okay, well in my believe you don't need all those programs, not at all. In my experience in fixing computers, I can usually speed the pc up by doing a few steps and it only requires one download.

    1) Download a program called Crap Cleaner aka CCleaner and install it - Google it and you will find the link
    2) Restart your computer and launch in safe mode(F8 before the windows launches but right after the bios/manufacturer's logo)
    3) Run CCleaner(now there is two things you can do; 1. Run the registry fix and 2. Run the system clean, make sure when you do the system clean you have everything checked other then the last one which is "something free space")
    4) Start -> Run -> CMD -> Black Screen shows up, type in defrag c: -f (If "C:" is not your local disk you change it there)

Now you let that run until it's completed from that alone you start your computer and see if there is an improvement.

** -F Command on step 4 means force, it will defrag your hard drive even if it's less then 15% free space.

    Tell me your results:)
