Help with speed issues ASUS P7H55D

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by giorgioarmani, May 23, 2010.

I recently purchased the following desktop:

    ASUS P7H55D - M PRO / Socket 1156
    INTEL CORE i3-530 / 2.93 Ghz
    RAM 4GB PC1333 (2*2)
    HDD 1TB WD SATA
    ......

I've got Win XP Pro running with SP3

The issue is simple, when I click start of want to open a folder or check an email, then the PC takes 3-5 seconds to respond. It appears to be running really slow.

I've installed the ASUS software to tweak performance but honestly have no clue what should be what. Anyone know whats going on?

You could try going to PCpitstop.com and do a scan to see what is slowing your machine down.

Ok I've done that. Everything appears to be fine... Nothing special I see problematic?

Hmmm.... When I put the TurboV onto "Ultimate profile" then things are better but still not perfect and everytime I restart I need to reset this to "Ultimate profile"...

    Anyone?

I suggest you download some registry repair tools to detect and fix PC registry errors. You should maintain it regularly.

Defrag your pc, use window washer to get rid of trash files, get good antivirus software and run some scans, get rid of software you don't use.

I am using ASUS P5KPL-AM/PS i never experienced any problem with it......... I think you might check the files/programs running in background, and tweak up some windows options. If still problem persists contact the dealer/ customer service agent....

With the specs provided for your machine, Windows XP should run like the wind. You might open your task manager and see what is running in the background. Also turn off services you don't need. Even new PC's ship with spyware and junk already loaded, so find a copy of PC Decrapifier (It's free) and eliminate some of the useless junk like Norton. Also, check the size on your Page Files because they may not be adjusted to take advantage of your 4 Gigs of memory.

Thanks guys your advice is all very logical.

Unfortunately nothing works. I set this PC up myself. From scratch. Format. New Windowds install. Download all updates, etc.

I really think it must have something to do with the settings of this mother board? Does nobody have the same one?

Did you tried checking your Page file size and page file usage status while running up the system? I think there you have to check..... and also tune up your system , by stopping some unwanted services running in your windows...
