How do you know your niche is no more worth pursuing?

First of all, this (http://losefatgainmuscleguide.com/) is my website I'm currently working on. This also happens to be my very first website, though it's a wordpress.

I've done some social bookmarking, forum profile, article submission (ezinearticles, just in & not yet approved), & blog comment. I've done this for 3 days but I see very small improvement in my traffic. My google rank is somewhere between 180-190.

Should I drop this niche? I'm thinking of waiting more since this site was just launched last 16th May 2010. Hoping to hear some feedback.

    Thanks a lot.

three days is stil very short.
if you want get it higher, you must be patience, there are a lot of people like you too that doing SEO.
About worth or not is depend on how you monetize it later.
also if this is your passion, this worth. (but i think this is not your passion)

SEO take time especially on competitive niches (and muscle building is a competitive niche) . I would suggest you to create PPC campaign and bring some relevant traffic to see if your site converting.

    @ petr_ind
You're right, it's not exactly my passion. I try to monetize using Clickbank and after doing some researches on what products sold the most (high gravity) but with lower competition I decide to give a try to this particular niche and see how it goes from there.

    @ MarketingTactics
My keyword theme for this niche is 'lose fat gain muscle'. I've been thinking if a micro niche coming from combination of 2 niches (lose fat + gain muscle) is a bad idea. It's still a micro niche because I'm concentrating on how to lose fat and gain muscle afterwards but now I'm lately starting to hesitate.

As others have said, three days is nothing. I think even three months is a rather short time period for a new site.

If you started the site purely for the money and don't enjoy the topic, then maybe after three months you could drop it if you haven't seen improvement, but I'd say stick with it for a bit longer than that.

I don't think your niche is that small - I think if you give it time you'll see some success. It's probably seaonal though - this time next year you'll catch the people wanting to get in trim for the summer, and the time after Christmas will probably be big too, with people wanting to lose some of the fat they gained from over-indulging during the holidays.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll keep on updating my site and adding some links for SEO. Meanwhile, I'll look for other keywords for a new site.

Your niche is actually pretty good. Typically weight gain/diet can be a high earning niche - lots of affiliate programs, CPA offers to earn from.

It may be that your expectations are unrealsitic, if after 3 days you're expecting an inferno of traffic and income. You need to stick at it for several months before you can judge how your site is doing in terms of traffic and income.

Are you developing an opt in list? This can be a major source of income, as people interested in diets/weight gain are usually long term prospects.

PM me if you need some help.

Thanks tuksdrr. I'm not really expecting lots of traffic or even income at this moment. I realize it's still too early for that. Maybe, this being my first project has gotten me over-anxious. However, after I start do some social bookmarking, squidoo, hubpages, etc I see an increas in traffic, albeit a small one. I haven't developed any opt-in list because I still don't have anything I can offer to visitor. Should I create reports or eBooks? I believe in order for visitor to opt-in to my site, I need to offer something of value to them. Sent you a pm.

Any niche can perform. But if you have lost faith in your niche, leave your niche. Start a new one
