    google is domain registrar?
if they are then they'd probably not have to offer godaddy in blogspot Custom Domain, isn't it?

It really funny, are you sure, because most of the people here are not agreeing to your friend's suggestion about google. I also believe that it is not possible for a single company like google to keep records of all the websites which are bought over the net every second.

    Hi,

    That is absolutely ridiculous.

Does that mean that every time someone buys a domain name, every other domain registrar on the planet gets an email telling themthe domain was bought and is no longer for sale?

I agree that they are a domain registrar, but i disagree in the fact that this makes them aware of every domain sale on the internet.

    Thanks

You can buy a domain name from Google during the process of setting up Google Apps, which are available to the public.

I do not agree with you . because unless you will not so any activity ,it will not include your site to into its database. It may possible google tie up with other sites and found newly registered data

I am not sure why this matter. Registrar or not...I don't think it matters.

Keeping track of who owns what domain would be one of the simpler tasks for google and it's massive computing power.

Ok, so what if Google is actually a registrar then what can we benefit from that information?
