Just wondering if you had to choose a .org or .info which one would you choose. Which is more search engine friendly? Which one will rank better even if they are matched with back links???

Since the dot infos were given away so cheap, they are not perceived as having the value of the dot coms, dot nets, and dot orgs.

I'd rather take a .org domain, but it depends on what the niche is. If I'm trying to register a travel website, I'll obviously go with the .info domain. Actually, I'm not really sure. It depends on if there's a deal or how much funds I have. Remember, if you have a high ROI, go ahead and keep registering those .info domains ;)

get away from .info. i spent a very bad time trying to rank with it with no result at all then i bought the .org of the same domain from the secondary market and from the first week it was in second page of google.

i didn't say impossible but for sure it is harder (based on my experience ). so why should i take it. to save 7$ first year??
i have a .info domain with a 60000 exact google searches/month for the exact domain name, if you can make something from it i will be happy to have business with you .

really depends! if you get the same domain name with both extension, then better to go with org domain. not that there will be any seo benefit for org domain compared to info domains, its just that lot of spammers sign up with 99 cents info domains to spam the hell out of it and then vanish after one year. average visitors would not know jack from crack, but just the seo world and informed visitors dont have a very good impression on info domains.

i myself never registered an info domain until just very recently. for a new project, i found the exact kw on the domain i was looking for only on info domian. since i will be doing SEO on that site and target search engine traffic, it doesn;t make any difference to me which extension the site has. besides, it would be a review site reviewing various products on a certain niche so info domain would not be so bad for that site. all depends on your site and promotion method

.info, it is cheaper and sometimes works on search engines.

You should use .org domain. It is a bit "expensive" but your readers will believe in you more!

I would recommend .org rather .info because .org is older than .info and most people are used to with .org rather .info. I have seen very few .info domains in search results as compared to .info.

I would go with .org not because Google have any favor to both of them, but .org gives credibility perception in most visitor rather than .info which used by spammer (because of the cheap price).

never ever buy .info. Its very bad for ranking. you will need tons to backlinks to rank in the search engines. I had a bad experience once.

I'll definitely go for the .org because it's easier to rank on Google search results and gives a better perception about your website.

It depends on what your motives are.
I don't think google cares what the extension is.
Basically, if you've got .gov or .edu backlinks TO your domain, that matters but google doesn't really care if your site is .com, .biz or .info.
You can run test 'easy' keywords to place in google and you'll see.

from my experience, .info is not SEO friendly ..

you have to working harder with .info domain, rather than .org .net .com

I think personally I would choose .org. It is quite a bit more common and will be more recognizable by users.

I would go for .Org as this extension is more reputable for search engines than .Info domains.

And it is not hard to rank .Info domain, like Nikomaster said, if you are doing it the right way, there is no way you can't rank .Info.
