hey guys i just started a new forum...i just created it yesterday and i have absolutely no clue as to how to start getting people to join. we only have 3 registered members, one being my friend, my roommate, and myself...pretty sad i know...any advice as to how i can start getting more traffic? btw im a total noob at internet marketing or any other things that involve technology...thanks!
if you want regular traffic on your newly created forum website then you should go with social networking website which are good in instant traffic generating option.
First of all, there should be enough threads/posts and content in your forum that would attract people to join your forum. Secondly, when you have unique and fresh content, search engines would crawl your forum regularly (depends on how frequent how update your content). To get frequent traffic, use Social Bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious.
Do social bookmarking submission post your forum at networking site think of a contest that will surely love by the member. Good luck for that forum.
I agree with the suggestions above, go with Social bookmarking and networking to be able to get some traffic since both are essential in getting traffic and of course you need to produce a quality content for your forum website for the online crowd will attract and join in to your site
